Truly a trendsetter, Culinary Artist Katie O’Reilly is a wholly unique talent in the overcrowded food industry. Her all-encompassing knowledge of all things food, combined with her artistic passion and educated and extensive palette, and added to the fact that she feeds over 40,000 guests each year, has elevated Katie’s culinary designs to the rarefied air of creativity and flavor profiles that only the top chefs enjoy.
As Co-President, Co-Owner and Culinary Designer of the prominent High End Chicago caterer Kenmare Catering and Events, Katie has created over 700 sensational menu items, and has designed menus for over 2500 high end events over her career. Katie’s clients include US Presidents, celebrities, major corporations, international not for profit groups and high profile weddings, as well as for countless less famous but equally important self-proclaimed “foodies”
Katie’s food designs span a broad range of local and international cuisines, incorporate time tested and modern age techniques, and utilize local, organic, artisan, and exotic ingredients. Katie is as comfortable creating a menu for an Indian-German fusion wedding and she is a corporate BBQ outing. Her ability to create dishes that are simple done perfectly, or over the moon exotic, is a singularly unique talent. Katie also hosts an average of two client tastings each week, allowing her to interact with clients while they taste her food and discuss and design their menus. This unique process awards her a special insight into how we all interpret aromas, flavors, and textures of food
Beyond her inspired talents and specialized process, Katie has also nurtured and guided her Executive Chefs and culinary teams to be able to produce all of her designs perfectly for every event: large or small, VIP or modest. She has achieved this by micro managing all aspects of food creation for each event, whether it be new items that she has just created, or to maintain consistency for dishes that they have produced many times.
While food has always been her passion, Katie began her special events career at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1993 where she produced many famous events. She then developed the Special Events department for the School of the Art Institute where she designed events at their 112 S. Michigan Ballroom. She was also key in developing the Gene Siskel Film Center. Katie joined Kenmare Catering as Culinary Artist full time in 2012.
